Magic Reindeer Food Freebie

How about adding a little more magic to this Christmas season? I love making Magic Reindeer Food. It is very simple to make and the kids have a lot of fun adding reindeer food and sprinkles to the yard in anticipation for the arrival of Santa and his reindeer.
You will need:
1. Any type of oats.
2. Glitter in your favorite color.
3. Ribbon.
4. Sandwich bags.
5. Scissors to cut the labels out.
6. Stapler or Tape.
7. Hole puncher.
8. Measuring cup if you have one.
9. Magic Reindeer Label.
How to make it:
1. Give a sandwich bag to each student.
2. Use a measuring cup to add a cup of oats.
3. Choose your favorite color of glitter. Add a dash, or more to the bag.
4. Staple or tape the “Magic Reindeer Food” label to the front of the bag.
5. Hole punch the top or side of the label.
6. Add a small piece of ribbon to finish it off.
That’s it! We already put our “Magic Reindeer Food” under the Christmas tree at home.
The kids will sprinkle it in our front yard on Christmas Eve before they go to bed.
All we will have to do is wait for Santa and those reindeer to arrive.
The reindeer will enjoy eating some oats while Santa eats some cookies by the Christmas tree 🙂

Christmas Shopping for Kids- Ideas

Have you seen all of the cute toys that are out for Christmas? I have not done my Christmas shopping yet!! I usually get it done early, but not this year.:o I have many nephews and nieces. Our family keeps growing and growing every year. One year, we asked the kids for a Christmas Wish List. Ha, ha, what were we thinking? So many kids, so many requests. Well, we did ask… right? Anyway, I have looked around and have not made any decisions yet. I really, really need to get it done soon. Today, I just want to show you some of the toys that caught my eye.
Christmas Ornament Keepsake

Do you like to make Christmas Ornament Keepsakes? It is so much fun decorating the Christmas tree with ornaments that our kids make at school year after year. It is just as fun to make them at school with our students, wrap them up and send them home as a Christmas gift. We know that parents are waiting for this little gift with anticipation. There are so many little ornaments that we can make. Some require a lot of teacher preparation and others a little less.
DIY Stained Glass Christmas Ornament:
Materials Needed:
-A picture from a coloring book
-Transparency paper
-Printer
-Markers
– Aluminum Foil Paper
-Black construction paper
-Scissors
-Stapler
-Ribbon
How to make it:
1. Use a printer to copy the coloring book picture onto transparency film.
2. Cut around the picture on the transparency copy in the shape of a circle. The size of this circle will determine the size of the foil paper.
3. Cut the aluminum foil paper into a circle pattern just a little larger than the size of the copy in step #2. (Crumble the paper, then open it and smooth it out a bit. Do not crumble the paper too much because you will have a hard time trying to open it back up.)
4. Cut the black construction paper into a circle pattern the same size as the one in step #2 (The round transparency page with the picture on it.)
5. The child will use bright markers to color the picture on the transparency film.
6. The child will use a black sharpie to trace all the lines on the picture.
7. Take the colored picture, hold it faced-down, place it on top of the foil paper.
8. Fold the excess foil paper forward to hold the transparency picture in place.
9. The black circle that you cut out of construction paper will go behind the foil paper. Now, staple the layers together.
10. Make a small hole at the top of the ornament and tie a small ribbon.
11. Hang it on your Christmas tree and enjoy!
The Santa ornament can be made with a paper tube, construction paper, cotton balls and a sharpie. I found that idea here. I love it!

Just not sure of the material used to decorate it, but I love it!

The Mitten Clip Art and More Cuteness for December

I worked on some clip art sets for winter last week. I love how they turned out. The Cozy Animals set can be used along with “The Mitten” story. I also created some for a Penguin Family and a Snowman Family. I hope that it is not too late for my Christmas sets. I decided to bundle them up. They include very colorful images of Santa’s Sleigh, Standing Reindeer, Jolly Santa, Colorful Santa Bags and pastel Flying Reindeer. These are the color images, but they all include the black and white images in a single download.

December Math Pack

I made some activities to practice the numbers 1-100. This pack includes counting by ones, twos, fives, and tens. You will see colorful number cards that can be sequenced in a pocket chart or on the floor. Then, students will be able to complete the corresponding activity sheet.
You can incorporate these activities with lessons that focus on:
*Naming numbers
*Ordering numbers
*Writing numbers
*Identifying numbers that come before a given number
*Identifying numbers that come after a given number
*Skip counting and writing by 2s
*Counting by 2s fluency (use the I have. Who has? cards)

Short Vowels Clip Art with CVC Word Patterns

I have been a little busy with a clip art request from some sweet blogging friends. We were in need of graphics for short vowels. I came up with a list of words that follow a CVC pattern. Now, we do not have to spend hours online searching for short vowels clip art AND having to credit so many sources in a single product. I hope that these work for your phonics creations.
